Unlocking the potential of European cancer treatment data
As cancer incidence rates continue to rise across Europe, improving cancer treatment and reducing the cancer burden is a priority for health systems. A rapid rise in innovation and arrival of precision medicine is helping to improve outcomes but also makes it increasingly complex to select the optimal treatment for each cancer patient. There are not just new drugs to choose from but also multiple indications, sequential therapies, posology variations and different combinations of innovative drugs to consider. Yet surprisingly little is currently known about how cancer treatment varies in real-world settings.
The Oncology Data Network (ODN) is helping address these challenges by connecting treatment centres across Europe to reveal what is really happening in current clinical practice. The scale and speed of the ODN is essential to keep pace with innovation and to deliver meaningful insights into precision medicine.
